Be part of the project. Participate in the DEMOCHANGE PHOTO CONTEST.

The aim of this contest is to show by both, photographs and scientific results,

  • what demographic change is
  • and how it is felt among the public
  • and to raise awareness on the importance of demographic change in the Alpine space.

The DEMOCHANGE PHOTO CONTEST will be an important part of this scientific research project to illustrate in individual cases, at certain places and with special people the general findings of this research project.

Together, the photographs oft the entrants and the results oft the scientists will raise widespread awareness among the general public on the importance of demographic change in the Alpine space.

The submitted photographs, series of photographs and photo-reportages should show

  • alpine regions and the changes in housing,
  • the appearance of villages and changes in infrastructure imposed by the emigration of young people
  • and the aging of society.
  • They can also show these effects on the behaviour of people in alpine regions: throwing the towel on the situation as well as fighting for new ways to live a successful live in the countryside.

There is a rich diversity of topics the photographers can choose from.

The submitted photographs, which are selected by the Jury, will be exhibited in a museum show at a famous museum/gallery. A travelling exhibition on several other places connected with the Demochange project will follow. The pictures will also be used to illustrate the scientific papers and digital reports. For the entrants this will be an excellent chance to promote their work to a big international audience. The exhibition will be carefully curated and promoted and is a unique chance especially for young photographers.

On this page you find some commented example pictures which were photographed by Kurt Kaindl in alpine regions. They should serve as suggestions to show the possibilities for pictures to be submitted for the DEMOCHANGE PHOTO CONTEST.
