Innergebirg 2030

On 22nd of April 2010, the Salzburg project partners initiated DEMOCHANGE on regional level with a quite successful kick-off event in Werfen, a municipality in the region Pongau, south of Salzburg.Almost 70 experts from the fields of spatial planning, regional development, youth and family, gender mainstreaming, anti-discrimination, job market and education came to inform themselves about the trends and impacts of the demographic change in the south regions of Salzburg.

First of all, the Salzburg project team introduced the facts and main points of DEMOCHANGE to the representatives of politics, regional government, local and state authorities.
The second part of the event was dedicated to open discussions between the participants and the exchange of experiences, facts, expectations and suggestions with the Austrian project team. Four various thematic places were prepared for the visitors, where they could debate with experts from the team and get informed about the first analysis and interim findings:

• Cooperation
• Migration
• Infrastructure
• Age-appropriate working

The strong interest and lively discussions showed clearly that there is a great need for activities and attention concerning these issues – especially in rural areas.
In order to ensure that, a regional steering group has been built during the kick-off event. This group is comprised of representatives of the Austrian DEMOCHANGE model regions Pinzgau, Pongau and Lungau and they already fixed the date for their first official meeting. It will take place in Zell am See/ Pinzgau on the 30th of June 2010.
